KETO | Day 12 – How to Deal with Negative Comments on Low Carb Keto

Welcome to day 12, where we will talk about how to deal with negative comments on low carb keto. Thinking about these kinds of things is part of the plan to move you towards eating low carb keto. In 14 days we are taking 7 easy actions that make it possible and prepare you to give low carb a go. Plus we are having 7 mindset moments to get our inner self pumped up, primed and ready to smash it.

Getting our mind engaged with our desire to eat low carb keto is super important. And this topic is a doozy. Along the way, you will encounter mostly well meaning people who, despite loving you or being your friend, will have negative comments to make about low carb keto. We are now going to talk about how to deal with negative comment on low carb keto.

FIRST… BE PREPARED

It’s hard to think that anyone could be, or would be negative about you making positive choices to better serve your health and wellbeing. Low carb and keto eating has some passionate advocates, like me and some equally passionate detractors. No names given as I spend zero time on them.

This wee video deals with some of the comments that have been said to me or other low carb keto lovers. Watch and be aghast at the negative naysayers, but rest assured I have techniques to share that don’t only start with the F word and end in off.

WHY WOULD ANYONE MAKE NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT LOW CARB KETO DIET

This is a good question for which there is no definitive answer. My take on it is that people are, on the whole, uncomfortable with change. So when you change how you eat, how much you weigh or when you eat or what you eat, then some people find that confronting. It’s like you have upset their universe or something. Most of those people just be quiet about it. But, the less emotionally mature or, to say it another way, the tossers, may want to tell you about their opinion. Over and over again.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT NEGATIVE COMMENTS

The best and most effective response to the negative naysayers is ..

And then nothing. Move the conversation onto green pastures. Distract them onto a shared love of sport, horses, houseplants or fashion. At a pinch role out parenting or politics or religion for the super stubborn naysayers who want to keep at you. You might say ….

I hear you, I understand your concerns and thanks for the feedback

There is little point getting into a debate, even less point getting into an argument. This is not religion, you do not have to convert them to save their soul from the bowels of hell. Their negativity about your choices says more about their current position in life than anything else.

HOW TO DEAL WITH NEGATIVE COMMENTS ON LOW CARB KETO – FIND YOUR TRIBE

To move beyond the handfull of nasty, negative people, find your tribe. Let me say that again

Find Your Tribe

It’s highly likely that no one in your immediate circle of influence, the five people you hang with the most, will be low carb keto already. So go find an online space where low carb is hip, keto is happening and your likelihood of finding like minded souls is HIGH!

Consider these tribes …. firstly this one, the women-only closed group that I created. It’s a private group, just for women interested in, or practising low carb, keto and /or intermittent fasting. This is a safe, no judgement zone and you are very welcome to come on over and say hi. Not a woman … not to worry, I have other tribes I love that take dudes.

There are many other wonderful keto tribes … like Kristi Davis, who has a YouTube channel here and her own Facebook group, All Things Keto with Kristi. Lazy, dirty keto and shopping hauls are Kristi’s thing. Her daughter Karrigan Davis, also has a channel for younger women doing keto.

Then there is the delightful Tara, at Tara’s Keto Kitchen. Love, love, love Tara. Amazing recipes, health coaching tips and product tries are Tara’s forte. Plus, she has the ever faithful Jeremy by her side. She is Batman, he is Robin.

And where would I be without Thomas Delauer and his YouTube channel. Thomas is a science and data geek who presents all things keto and intermittent fasting, all in easy to digest (ha pun) bite-sized chunks.

Once you find your tribe, hang out there. Comment, support content creators, share recipes and generally immerse yourself in the good vibes. Because, you know what, you belong. So that’s the best way to beat the negative nellies, find the positive patties and hang with us!
