ACTION 6: LOW CARB MEAL PLANNING
Hello and welcome to day 11, the day we get into low carb meal planning. Let’s plan five days of low carb meals to get you off to a flying start. This is the sixth action of seven that we are going to take to get you prepared for low carb keto.
As you know in 14 days we are taking 7 easy peasy actions that prepare you to give low carb keto a good ole go. This is action 6 and it’s a sure fire way to keep you on your low carb keto pathway.
WHY DO LOW CARB MEAL PLANNING
It’s important to give low carb meal planning a go. Preparation is key in the early weeks as you go thru the highs and lows of changing from eating carbs to eating more fat and protein. It’s one less thing to worry about, or trip up on if you already have five days of meals planned. It’s just easier to stay on course. Watch this wee video to understand more.
WHAT DOES A LOW CARB MEAL PLAN LOOK LIKE
There are loads of examples of low carb meal plans on the internet. Here is one I have done. It’s an easy everyday foods 5 day plan. I think it’s good to do five days. Then on days six and seven just eat up leftover or improvise. Here’s a wee post on what I eat in a day on low carb keto.
SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN LOW CARB MEAL PLANNING
My number one rule in low carb meal planning is keep it simple. This meal plan has a goal of helping you stay on a low carb keto pathway. It’s not a plan to compete on MasterChef. Find low carb keto meals you like and cook them a lot. Variety may be the spice of life, but when you are learning low carb keto eating it’s best to stick with pink salt. Spice can come later. If you like zucchini noodles and spag bol mince eat it all week long.
SECOND RULE OF LOW CARB MEAL PLANNING
My second biggie is to start with low carb compliant foods. If you only include the basics in your cooking and all the basics are low carb then the end result will be …. wait for it …. low carb! This is how I can be a lazy keto girl and not count macros. I only use low carb ingredients to begin with.
In action one you got a low carb keto shopping list and in action two we got you food group guides. Use these now to plan what foods will make meals you want to have that are low carb. If you are a bit stuck, here are some ideas.
- keto pies
- roast chicken
- BBQ anything
- pesto chicken
