ACTION 5: TIME FOR SOME DATA COLLECTION
Hello and welcome to day nine, the day to collect some data so we can have a reference point for non scale victories on keto low carb. This is the fifth action of seven that we are going to take to get you prepared for low carb keto.
As you know in 14 days we are taking 7 easy peasy actions that prepare you to give low carb keto a good ole go. This is action 5 and it might be a little confronting, but I know you can do it. I think you should do it as non scale victories on keto is a thing. A very important thing.
Just like action 4, cleaning our the panty, this one is a wee bit harder than the first three actions. But this action will become super meaningful as you walk down your own low carb pathway.
WHAT ARE NON SCALE VICTORIES ON KETO LOW CARB
Non scale victories, or NSV is a reference you will see on low carb keto groups everywhere. This means other great things that are happening because of low carb keto, besides movement on the scales. The most common NSV is inches or centimetres lost. That’s why today we are taking measurements.
NON SCALE VICTORIES ON KETO – INCHES GONE!
It’s a common thing on low carb keto that the scales may say no weight loss, but your tape measure will tell a different story. So that’s your first task for today. Find your tape measure and take you waist, hips and thigh measurements. Write them down, in your journal or on your phone.
No tape measure, no worries. Any bit of ribbon, string, rope or even a belt will do. Anything that gives you a visual guide to what your body measurements are will work.
NON SCALE VICTORIES ON KETO – CLOTHING
The next thing we are going to do is find a pair of pants that are a bit snug. Too tight, or won’t fit also works. These are our benchmark pants. See my benchmark pants at the back of this pic. Size 18 Australian … I didn’t see a difference every day, but over time my pants told the story to me. And it was both rewarding and motivating to see this difference.
If you don’t have pants, a skirt or dress works too. Even a tee shirt. Just something that right now won’t fit comfortably. Keep it handy right along your pathway and whenever the ‘doubting Thomas’ creeps in, get out the pants/dress/tee shirt and try that sucker on.
Then see with you own eyes the progress you are making. This will be one of the most personally satisfying moments along your journey. It is such a rewarding notion to understand how your effort is paying off. It’s lovely to have clothes fit properly. And this one thing will help you understand how far you have come, even if the scales will have not moved as much as you had hoped.
I should have done more of this on my pathway. It has been a long road for me to realise I’m not a little fatty anymore. I still have not adjusted to not being the fat girl. I wrote about it here.
NON SCALE VICTORIES ON KETO – HEALTH + WELLBEING
Not an action for today, but super important to keep top of mind. Like a lot of women who choose to take up low carb keto, it’s not just about weight loss for me. I had some serious health issues to manage and that spurred me to find a permanent solution to not only weight, but how to address inflammation and autoimmune disease. I go into detail about my health story here. But I am 99% sure you will have a health story too.
SPEAK TO YOUR HEALTH CARE PROFESSSIONAL
Speak with your health care professional about starting low carb keto. Get your bloods done if you like. Have a benchmark as to where any conditions are. It just makes good sense.
I would also suggest that if your doctor says an immediate and hard NO to low carb keto, then get yourself a new doctor. My lovely doctor was not familiar with keto low carb, she was a bit of a doubting Thomas and a bit worried. So I sent her some videos from Low Carb Drs Australia. Nothing like a doctor telling a doctor how it is. Here’s the video to send them of Dr Paul Mason telling doctors why low carb is a GREAT and GOOD thing. Don’t give up on educating your doctor, it’s just their training letting them down. The real devils are the food manufacturers.
NON SCALE VICTORIES ON KETO – HEALTH ISSUES
Low carb keto eating impacts positively on so many health issues, here’s a list, but it’s not a complete list. Go here for more information. And of course do your own research, as guess what, not a doctor. Plus hear what Dr Boz has to say. Another pro keto doctor is Dr Ken Berry. So here is a list of life-sapping issues, see if you relate to any on a personal level.
- Metabolic Syndrome
- inflammation – arthritis and more
- Autoimmune conditions – Crones Disease, Thyroid, Lupis and more
- Irritable bowel
- Thyroid conditions – high and low
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
- Some Cancers
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Alzheimer’s Disease
- Migraine Headaches
- Mental Health
Time for today’s video. There are three actions that I’m discussing today.
- take measurements
- find your benchmark pants
- weigh in
Come on, you know you want to!
